Women Wielding the Word: Rebekah Joy

GUEST AUTHOR

Sharing stories of how God has impacted our lives encourages us and builds our faith.

This series is meant to be an encouragement to you. I’ve asked other bloggers to share what their time with God looks like and how the Bible has impacted their lives. No two stories are the same. Every woman’s devotional life looks different.

Read about other “Women Wielding the Word” in this series here.

Daily time in God's Word doesn't have to be complicated. Be encouraged & inspired by a peek into the devotional life of a real woman - Rebekah Joy.

A Little Bit About Me

My name is Rebekah and I am the blogger behind www.moreradiance.com. I have been blogging for about 5 years and I love it! My blogging journey has taught me so much and I love all the people I’ve met through this little hobby/ministry of mine.

I grew up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior at the age of 5. At the age of 20, I married the man of my dreams and we’ve been married for about 2 years now. Marriage just keeps getting better and better! We are currently on deputation for Baptist church planting in the state of Pennsylvania (where we live and grew up!). Lord willing, we will plant a New Testament Baptist Church in Pennsylvania next year. It’s an exciting time in our lives!

I am passionate about my faith, modesty, health, homemaking, reading, and more. I love to share what I learn with others and my blog has been a wonderful tool to do just that!

What does your regular personal Bible study and prayer time look like?

This year, I have chosen to read through my Bible in a year. This has been a bit intimidating for me, as I have never successfully read straight through the entire Bible in a year. It has been a huge blessing though! Each day, I read anywhere from 2-5 (sometimes more!) chapters wherever I currently am in my Bible reading. I use colored pencils to highlight verses and phrases that stick out to me. I get behind sometimes, but I just pick up where I left off. Before or after my Bible reading I try to spend some time in prayer, talking to my Heavenly Father. I typically write out my prayers in my prayer journal. That’s what my personal Bible study looks like right now in a nutshell.

I also use and LOVE my KJV Creative Bible. ♥

How have regular/consistent daily devotions impacted your life? How has God’s living and active Word impacted your life?

God’s Word gives me strength when I feel as though I have none left. I am also reminded (too often!) that I cannot do “life” on my own and I desperately need my Heavenly Father’s grace and help – and that starts by being in HIS Word! ♥

If you set aside time every year (or more often) to evaluate your spiritual walk or make plans with regard to growing in your relationship with Christ, what does that look like? Do you use specific tools, books, checklists, or passages of Scripture?

Yes! I love the time of year around the end of December/early January for evaluating my year and planning ahead. Just this past year, I purchased a Powersheet’s Goal Setting Planner to help me with this. It has been a wonderful help. It has a section in the beginning to evaluate each area of life (including walk with God) and write down what needs improvement and your goals for the year. Powersheets has been a wonderful tool to use each month (not just at the beginning of the year) to help evaluate my walk with God.

I also love the book, My One Word which teaches the concept of choosing one word to focus on during the year. When I evaluate my goals and walk with God I pray about a particular word (or character trait) that God may want me to focus on. I also choose a Bible verse to accompany that word. This year’s theme has been COURAGE and my verse has been Joshua 1:9.
