I’ve caught myself idolizing what I’m hoping for at times. It’s easy to do, especially when what is hoped for is a Biblical ideal.
Two common examples: Wives hope for solid marriages and godly husbands to lead their homes. Mothers hope for children who are submitted to Christ and walking in obedience to Him.
There is nothing wrong with hoping for these things. On the contrary! We SHOULD hope for them! But our hope must ultimately be in Jesus Christ. Only He has the power to redeem, to truly restore, to fully heal, to draw hearts to Himself, to bind up the brokenhearted, to bring the lost home…
Hope in Christ enables me to rest in the waiting. It’s not up to me to make it happen. It’s not up to me to orchestrate the impossible. I don’t have to figure it all out and find all the answers.
He is the answer. He never fails. He is my Source.
