It’s so easy to get caught up in our own ideas or the world’s ideas about who we are or who we should be. But what does God say? Who does God say that I am? Who am I in Christ? This series takes a journey through God’s Word to discover the truth about who we are in Him.
“even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him…” (Ephesians 1:4)
In God’s eyes, you are holy and blameless. This is a Truth that can be so difficult for us to believe. How can I be holy and blameless in the eyes of God when I fail over and over again? How can He see me as righteous when I still sin?
This is where the Truth of the Gospel impacts how we think about ourselves. In God’s eyes, we are holy and blameless because Jesus Christ took all the ugly sin in us and put it on Himself. Then, He replaced that sin with robes of righteousness (Isaiah 61:10). He covered us in His righteousness.
Do you ever find yourself shying away from the Lord? Do you withdraw when you’re feeling guilty? When we choose to believe what God says in His Word, we can “with confidence draw near to the throne of grace” and we can “receive mercy” (Hebrews 4:16).
Live It Out
Don’t withdraw from God today. Take some time to boldly draw nearer to Him. If you’re feeling guilty about something, if you’re feeling unworthy, confess your sin and weakness to Him and then receive His forgiveness (1 John 1:9) and thank Jesus for His redeeming work in your life!
Just a quick shout-out to my 16-year-old daughter, Maya. She’s been helping me design the graphics for Wield The Word this week.
